CHENNAI: Manipal Group Ranjan Pai-backed geriatric care services provider Kites Senior Care on Thursday opened a new facility in T Nagar, Chennai, (and fifth nationally) at an investment of around Rs 4 crore.
The 15,000square-foot facility that is equipped with 45 beds will provide specialised geriatric care services including post-surgery and post-hospitalisation rehab care and palliative care.
It comprises air-conditioned rooms, high dependency unit (HDU) beds, a therapy hall, consultation suites and other elements. It is a joint initiative between Kites Senior Care and Chennai-based Ahavaa Eldercare (promoted by the Aban Group)
Chennai, like the rest of India, is experiencing a demographic shift with an increasing elderly population. This has led to a growing demand for geriatric care services, Rajagopal G, founder and CEO of KITES Senior Care, said.
The company also has plans to open a few more centres in Chennai in the coming year and enter three more southern states and the north soon.
Founded by Rajagopal G, A S Arvind and Reema Nadig, Kites Senior Care recently raised its pre-Series A funding of $2 million from Dr Ranjan Pai’s Manipal Education & Medical Group (MEMG) family office.
KITES is using the funds to scale operations in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai, and in developing a technology platform providing for health monitoring & active ageing of seniors. Since 2016, KITES has cared for over 5,300 seniors in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
