Position Summary
The Assistant Cook supports the F&B Co-Ordinator/Cook in the preparation, storage, and presentation of food in accordance with hygiene and safety standards. This role involves assisting with meal prep, maintaining cleanliness in the cooking area, monitoring food inventory usage, and adhering to sanitation protocols. The Assistant Cook plays a vital role in ensuring that the kitchen operates efficiently and that meals are prepared and served on time.
Reporting Lines
In this position of Assistant Cook you will report to the F&B Co-ordinator or the Executive nominated by the Management in this behalf. Core Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Cooking Support
- Assist in preparing raw ingredients such as cutting, chopping, marinating, and precooking.
- Follow instructions and standard recipes as guided by the Head Cook.
- Support the preparation of main dishes, side dishes, and desserts as required.
- Food Storage & Handling
- Store incoming ingredients properly and ensure proper rotation of stock.
- Manage leftover food according to storage and safety guidelines.
- Dispose of food waste as per kitchen protocols.
- Cleanliness & Kitchen Organization
- Keep the work area clean, sanitized, and organized before, during, and after shifts.
- Ensure all tools, utensils, and kitchen equipment are cleaned and maintained.
- Maintain workstation readiness for ongoing and next-day cooking tasks.
- Inventory & Supply Usage
- Track supplies used during meal prep and report to supervisor for reordering.
- Maintain awareness of stock levels for critical ingredients and kitchen items.
- Sanitation & Safety Compliance
- Follow all hygiene and sanitation protocols as per health department regulations.
- Support in maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen to meet inspection standards.
- Adhere to food safety and temperature control norms.
- Team Collaboration
- Work closely with cooks and kitchen staff to ensure timely food service.
- Provide assistance in special events, high-volume service, or emergency support.

Profile
Knowledge and Experience
- Education: Minimum 10th Pass
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in food preparation/kitchen support roles, preferably in a hospital, institutional, or hospitality setup
- Basic knowledge of food handling, hygiene, and kitchen protocols
