Nurse Manager

Position Summary

The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall functioning of the nursing department, ensuring quality patient care, managing nursing staff, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting daily operations. This role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and administrative efficiency to maintain high standards of nursing care and patient safety in alignment with the organization’s goals and protocols.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Clinical Oversight
  • Supervise and monitor the implementation of care plans created by the CMO.
  • Ensure high standards of clinical care delivery by nursing staff.
  • Adhere to and enforce infection control protocols.
  • Ensure appropriate usage and care of medical equipment and devices.
  • Conduct regular documentation of procedures, incidents, and patient records.
  • Promote and deliver patient and family education on relevant health topics.
  • Ensure compliance with NABH standards and guidelines.
  1. Administrative Leadership
  • Plan and conduct continuous staff orientation, on-the-job training, and performance monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, leaves, and performance for nursing staff.
  • Prepare monthly/weekly reports on department activities and staff productivity.
  • Schedule duty rosters to ensure adequate staffing coverage at all times.
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring of new nursing hires.
  • Coordinate with Centre Manager and other departments for operational efficiency.
  • Ensure readiness of patient rooms for new admissions and post-discharge cleaning.
  1. Inventory and Resource Management
  • Maintain inventory of nursing supplies, linen, consumables, and medications.
  • Conduct regular stock audits and raise indents in coordination with Centre Manager.
  • Ensure proper sample collection and coordination for lab and diagnostic services.
  • Monitor biomedical waste segregation and disposal compliance.
  1. Documentation and HIS Compliance
  • Ensure timely and accurate update of clinical notes in the Hospital Information System (HIS).
  • Maintain all relevant nursing registers, checklists, and handover sheets.
  • Prepare incident and quality improvement reports as required by management.
